Meet the Recruitment Team!
Relationships matter. We know that giving blood is a very personal activity. Our team of professionals firmly believes their relationships with our community blood drive partners and donors is crucial to a strong blood supply.
Being part of an organization with a mission has always been important to me. Thankfully, when I moved to Des Moines out of grad school, my apartment happened to be in the East Village across the street from LifeServe. That led me to where I am today and I have been working at LifeServe for over eight years! I am thankful to lead a team where we get to make a difference and work to be part of the incredible process that results in someone receiving a lifesaving gift. Outside of my role at LifeServe, my husband and I keep busy with my two blonde haired babes, Corah and Cameryn. We fill our days with being active and spending time with friends and family.
Most call me Bekah. I am very passionate about what I do; I mean we save lives! I went to college for firefighting and EMT. I am all for saving and educating to prevent and save, probably why I love my job so much. In my free time you can find me at my local gym, hanging out with my family, or in a good book. I enjoy hiking and the outdoors, so you know the mountains are always calling my name! I love trying new foods. I really enjoy a good pizza every once in a while.
I have always had a passion to help people and make an impact, so LifeServe is the perfect place for me. I have been with LifeServe for 8 years as a territory representative and enjoy working with my volunteers and donors to make a difference in their communities. When I am not working, you will find me spending time with my friends and family. I enjoy traveling and finding new adventures. I have even been known to jump out of a perfectly good airplane!
In my spare time, I run a free circus show! I’m only kind of joking. My troop of monkeys include my husband of 21 years, me, our four children (ages 18, 16, 13, and 11), two dogs, and my live in mother. I grew up in Hanlontown, Iowa, where everyone says I was appropriately named “chatty Kathie.” Give me a cup of coffee and a willing candidate and I can talk to anyone about almost anything! I started my journey with LifeServe Blood Center in 2017 working as a phlebotomist. Being a territory representative has given me the opportunity to combine my gift of gab with my passion for blood donation.
I’ve been at LifeServe for two years, and the mission means a lot to my family. My son Harrison is currently receiving IVIG treatments – which are created through the generous help of the LifeServe blood donors I get to work with every day! My second son, born just this February, is a Leap Day baby. My husband Matt and I were high school sweethearts and love the life we’ve created together. I love a good cup of coffee and vacationing at the Lake of the Ozarks. My heart bleeds red and gold for Iowa State – I was a cheerleader there during college!
I love being in the healthcare field, as I find it incredibly rewarding to be able to make a difference and have an impact in my community. I’ve lived in central Iowa my entire life and currently live in a small town with my wonderful husband and energetic two year old daughter. Outside of work I enjoy a wide variety of hobbies, including: riding motorcycles, snowmobiling, fishing, painting, and most recently I picked up knitting!
I’m a born and raised Johnston resident now raising my girls there. My wife Jana and I are high school sweethearts, dating eight years prior to getting married. We’ll celebrate our 17 year wedding anniversary in April. We have two beautiful daughters: Paige – a freshman in HS, and Avery – a 7th grader. When I’m not on the hunt to find places to hold blood drives, you’ll find me at my other home, the softball field. I coach both my girls in competitive softball. It’s my passion! I love coaching, mentoring, and developing youth athletes! I consider myself a bit of a geek. Some of the things I like to geek out on: coaching, sports, fishing, bowling, family, the Food Network, the Pitch Perfect movies, coffee, and a newfound love for reading. When I grow up, besides saving lives, I want to be an author.
I’ve been a territory representative since October 2019, but was a PR/Marketing Specialist for 11 years before that! I was born and raised in Des Moines. I have two grown daughters who are married and live in the Des Moines area. I have one granddaughter who is three and one grandson born February 11th, 2020. I enjoy working out, traveling Iowa, time with my family, sushi, and Mexican food. I am passionate about blood donation as I am a blood recipient myself. I have also been a blood drive chairperson in a community for 11 years.
I am a ten gallon donor, donated bone marrow through Be The Match in 2013, and am in the final stages of becoming a living kidney donor. I have 3 ½ year old twins, Ezra and Charlotte, and my spouse, Jeannine, is a marketing professional with a degree in graphic design. I earned my Master of Business Administration degree from Texas A&M University-San Antonio, where I specialized in international business and enterprise resource technology. A disabled veteran who served with the U.S. Army, I received a Purple Heart while leading an infantry team in Iraq.
Western Iowa and Nebraska
I was born and raised right here in Sioux City, IA which makes my job all the more rewarding as it involves giving back to the community I was raised in. Although I’ve been here my whole life, I love to travel! When I’m not spending time with family, friends, or my black lab Maggie, I’m probably planning my next trip. This year’s adventures include Cancun, Mexico, Tanzania, Africa, and Israel!
