Nervous about donating blood? Let our team know. We host blood drives every day and have plenty of tips and tricks to help make your donation experience as smooth and comfortable as possible.

DONATE BLOOD:

1. Schedule

Set your appointment at a Donor Center or Mobile Drive near you.

2. Register

Read educational materials, provide identification, and bring a signed permission form if necessary.

3. Screening

Complete a brief health questionnaire and mini-physical to check your temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, and hemoglobin level.

4. Donation

Donating one pint of blood typically takes about 5–10 minutes.

5. Snacks & Recovery

Relax in the refreshment area after your donation and enjoy a snack and drink.

BEFORE YOU DONATE:

Hydrate

HYDRATE WELL

Drink plenty of water the day before and the day of your donation to help prevent dizziness and improve blood flow.

Meal

EAT A GOOD MEAL

Eat a healthy meal before donating. Avoid giving blood on an empty stomach.

Rest

GET REST

Aim for 7–8 hours of sleep so your body is rested and ready to donate.

Greasy foods like fries or fast food can affect blood testing results.

Bring ID

BRING YOUR ID

Bring proper identification and make sure you meet the basic donation requirements.

Clothing

WEAR COMFORTABLE CLOTHING

Choose sleeves that can easily roll above your elbow.

Caffeine

LIMIT CAFFEINE

Too much caffeine can dehydrate you. Avoid alcohol before donating as well.

Relax

RELAX

Give yourself enough time and stay calm. A relaxed body handles donation better.
