There's No Place Like Aberdeen!

As a supplier to eastern South Dakota hospitals since 2004, LifeServe Blood Center expanded it's South Dakota reach in 2022 by partnering with more community hospitals, opening new donor centers, and establishing wider donor bases to support the local blood supply in neighborhoods from Yankton to Fort Pierre. The Mitchell Donor Center, which relocated to a new, larger facility, opened to donors in December 2022. LifeServe is excited to see their ever-growing Aberdeen blood donor community at the newly complete Aberdeen donor center, opening Monday, April 3, 2023.
Did you know that the setting for the Wonderful Wizard of Oz., written as Kansas, was actually based on Aberdeen, South Dakota and surrounding areas? Well to us at LifeServe, “there’s no place like Aberdeen” and we’re proud to open a new location here giving donors the opportunity to support their local hospitals.
This new facility will house a blood donation center, a mobile blood drive staging site to accommodate blood drives across northern South Dakota, as well as product processing which provide access to a local blood supply in this area. “Having a reliable blood supply is important, especially in rural areas,” said Tami Svatos, Director of Laboratory Services at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital and Avera Medical Group Clinics. “Avera is glad to collaborate with LifeServe in the support of our communities.”
Aberdeen is the third largest city in the state of South Dakota and sees many visitors from neighboring smaller towns and communities for employment, shopping, dining, healthcare, and entertainment. LifeServe is proud to have been chosen as the blood provider to this community and is looking forward to meeting new blood donors, helping to keep a strong blood supply for this region of South Dakota We are hopeful to see our mission resonate with the Aberdeen community, local blood saving local lives.
Construction is nearing completion at 2727 6th Ave SE and the Aberdeen donor center will open its doors to local donors on April 3rd. The donor center will be open Mondays 10:30am-5:00pm and Fridays 7:30am-2:00pm. Come in for your first donation on site at the new donor center and receive exclusive LifeServe swag!
