LifeServe Opens New Downtown Donor Center in Des Moines

DES MOINES, IOWA (August 11, 2023) – LifeServe Blood Center has been ever present as the leading and sole blood supplier in Des Moines dating back to its 1947 origins. Since 2002, LifeServe’s headquarter operations and Des Moines area donors have visited the Des Moines Donor Center at 431 East Locust in the East Village, just west of the state capitol complex. With a growing donor base across the Des Moines metropolitan area, LifeServe donors have encouraged a late Spring/early Summer 2024 move to a larger headquarter facility in Johnston, Iowa which will house a blood donation center, a state-of-the-art laboratory, and team member workspaces.
LifeServe greatly appreciates the loyal Des Moines area donors, and the organization is proud to open a new, convenient downtown donation center, opening Monday, August 14th. While in transition from the Des Moines Donor Center (431 E. Locust) to the NEW Downtown Donor Center at 580 SW 9th Street, Suite 112, both locations will be open for blood donations. Over the next few months, donors will see decreased hours at the Des Moines Donor Center and all appointments will be moved to the Downtown Donor Center. This transition will help to continue building a wide donor base that supports the strong community blood supply and allows LifeServe to help save the lives of even more patients in Central Iowa, and across our tri-state region.
It is important that donors understand that LifeServe has not created a whole new experience for them, this is just a location shift. The team members whom they’ve grown to know, and love will be working at both locations. The donation experience will not change, it will just be occurring at a new donor center. LifeServe anticipates seeing many new and returning donors at the new Downtown Donor Center, opening Monday, August 14th. The Downtown Donor Center will be open Mondays: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Tuesdays: 7 a.m. - 3 p.m., Wednesdays: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Thursdays: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Fridays: 6:30 a.m. - 3 p.m., and Saturdays: 7 a.m. – Noon.
