Ride the big slide, share a corn dog, earn a purple ribbon, save a local life. Donate blood at the Iowa State Fair with iHeart Media/WHO Radio and LifeServe Blood Center! The LifeServe bloodmobile bus rolls its way down the Grand Concourse once again on Friday, August 16. There's no better way to complete your perfect 2024 fair season than by saving a local life through blood donation.
We know you've all caught the Fair Fever, but do you have donor fever? If you've found yourself with an overwhelming urge to serve your community, 16 years of age or older, normal blood pressure, pulse, temperature and hemoglobin screenings, insatiable cravings for Nutter Butters, and a strong desire to save lives through blood donation; experts suggest donating blood at the Iowa State Fair on Friday, August 16 from 8a.m. to 5:30p.m. to cure your fever! All donors will earn a voucher to redeem a tie dye "Peace, Love, Donate" t-shirt and receive "DONOR" market tote bag.
Schedule Your Donation
Appointments are encouraged, but not required. Blood drive is located within the Iowa State Fairgrounds on the western end of Grand Avenue, across from the DNR building, outside the IHeart Media/WHO Radio building, with closest entrance/exit GATE 11 (Grand Entrance). Donors must first have admission to the fair to donate.
In preparation of your donation, plan to eat a light, salty snack, increase your water intake, and eat foods rich in iron. For the twenty-four hours following your donation, plan to avoid any heavy lifting or vigorous exercise, theme park rides with extreme acceleration or deceleration, and alcoholic beverages.
