LifeServe Blood Center is proud to announce that Megan Reuther is the new Chairperson of the LifeServe Board of Directors. Reuther, an anchor and reporter for WHO-13 and Hello Iowa, began her term as chairwoman this spring.
Mack Rankin, Vice President Private Wealth Advisor at U.S. Bank, is the new Vice Chair of the board. Tom Mathews, Chief Financial Officer at UnityPoint Health Des Moines, will serve as Secretary/Treasurer.
LifeServe Blood Center is a non-profit, community-based blood center that has served the needs of local hospitals and patients in our region since 1947. As one of the 15 largest blood centers in the country, LifeServe provides blood products to more than 170 hospitals primarily in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota.
LifeServe is governed by a volunteer board of directors, comprised of a range of leaders in the community representing businesses, community organizations, media outlets, hospitals, and more. The board is committed and dedicated to ensuring that a safe and consistent blood supply is always available to the patients and communities served by LifeServe Blood Center.
In addition, LifeServe welcomed two new additions to its Board of Directors: Becki Brommel and Grant Taylor. Brommel works as a healthcare litigation attorney at Dorsey & Whitney LLP, and Taylor is a Vice President/Partner with Hansen Company.
Brommel said her family’s experience with cancer treatments – her mother passed away from colon cancer at 54 – showed her the importance of blood donations to help patients in need. Her mother was also a dedicated blood donor earlier in her life prior to her diagnosis.
“Even though I was not very old, I remember her consistently attending the local blood donation drives and receiving her gallon blood donor membership card in the mail,” Brommel said.
Taylor is a long-time blood donor himself, who was inspired to get more involved with the organization recently.
“It wasn’t until I learned more about LifeServe and how successfully it distributed blood across the country that I became enthralled in the operations,” he said. “Whether you are donating blood, money, time, resources or talent, anyone who gives wants to know that what they give is cherished and used efficiently with the utmost reverence – and LifeServe does that.”
