Donor Center Drive for Firefighters a Success!
Thank you, blood donors! LifeServe Blood Center’s three day Firefighter Appreciation Blood Drive boosted the blood supply at a time of urgent need.
Over three days across LifeServe’s seven donor centers, nearly 900 blood donors rolled up their sleeves to save lives and show support for local firefighters. 867 LifeServers gave enough blood to save the lives of more than 2,500 local hospital patients.
“We’re really pleased with the incredible turnout,” said Shay Willis, Community Account Representative. “Regular blood donors came out to roll up a sleeve, but so did 43 first time blood donors! Having firefighters and their supporters in our donor centers was an honor. We’re proud of Iowa for rolling up a sleeve to show support and save lives.”
This firefighter appreciation drive follows January’s Blue Blood Drive, held on Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. During the Blue Blood Drive, we saw nearly 500 blood donors.
Our next big donor center drive to honor local heroes will take place July 1-3. Stay tuned for more information on the Battle of the Badges blood drive!
