Blue Blood Drive Draws in 500 Donors
Nearly 500 LifeServers visited a LifeServe Blood Center donor center on Wednesday, January 9 to commemorate National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.
488 generous blood donors rolled up a sleeve at the joint LifeServe and C.O.P.S. Blue Blood Drive across Iowa. Donor Centers in Ames, Des Moines, Fort Dodge, Marshalltown, Mason City, Sioux City, and Urbandale participated, offering free t-shirts and donuts donated by Casey’s and Hy-Vee for each donor.
“The National Blue Blood Drive was a powerful event and a wonderful way for individuals to not only support our law enforcement officials but also our blood supply,” said Shay Willis, Community Account Representative with LifeServe and organizer behind the Blue Blood Drive. “With nearly 500 people donating, close to 1,500 lives will be saved or sustained. On behalf of LifeServe Blood Center, thank you to all of our heroes, our donors and our officers, for always making a difference.”
There are already more law enforcement blood drives in the works for summer 2019.
