LifeServe Seeks Rare Donors

LifeServe Blood Center is joining the worldwide search for a special blood donor who can save a little girl’s life.

Zainab is a precious two year old girl from Florida who is battling an aggressive form of cancer. She needs blood transfusions as part of her lifesaving treatment, but that’s where things get tricky. Zainab is missing a very common antigen (called Indian B) that most donors have. That means this little girl can only receive blood from a donor who is also missing that antigen.

Donors who are most statistically likely to be a match for Zainab are of Pakistani, Indian or Iranian descent with an A or O blood type. If you think you’re a match and are willing to come in and donate to find out if you’re compatible, please give us at a call at 800-287-4903. Click here to learn more about Zainab’s story and the search for rare donors by one of our community blood center partners, OneBlood.

Even if you’re not a match for Zainab, you may be the perfect match for another hospital patient in need! Blood types are much more than A, B and O! As we head into the holidays, this is a great time to come in and donate. You never know who your blood could save.

Thank you for being a lifesaving blood donor!
