Your donation with LifeServe will help save your neighbor, a friend, family member or a stranger on the street. YOU make a difference in YOUR community. Being a blood donor is important, no matter who you donate with. The reason we encourage you to donate with us is: We are local and giving local matters.
LifeServe Blood Center is a non-profit, community based blood center that has served the needs of local hospitals and patients in our regions since 1963. Community–based blood centers (like LifeServe) are unique in that they most often only collect blood in the territories or counties where they provide blood to the local hospitals.
LifeServe Blood Center provides blood and blood products to more than 120 local hospitals throughout Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. Our local hospitals choose US to be their SOLE provider of blood products.
When donors donate with another blood collection organization within our community, their local donation does not support their local hospital. Only blood collected by LifeServe Blood Center is provided to local hospitals. Patient needs can change daily. Because of that, we need donor support and flexibility to ensure that every unit of blood collected goes to a patient in their time of need. We need 200,000 community members to donate each year to ensure our local hospitals have the blood products they need.
Each and every day we’re moving blood products to a hospital for transfusion. In order to be good stewards of the blood supply, one of LifeServe’s priorities is that no donation goes to waste. When our hospital partners’ blood product needs are taken care of, we seek homes outside of our area for our blood products. Often we’re able to assist other community blood centers who may be unable to fulfill their donation needs.
Thank you for helping save members in our community!
