Blood Drives and Chairpeople Honored

Ruth Boone

At LifeServe Blood Center our mission is simple – we save lives. We couldn’t do what we do without amazing sponsor groups!

This month LifeServe and Senator Jerry Behn recognized the Boone Auxiliary group with our Outstanding Sponsor Award. We also recognized their former chairperson, Ruth Bryant, who helped plan blood drives for the past ten years, with the Outstanding Chairperson Award. Both Ruth and the Boone Auxiliary group go above and beyond for the blood donation cause. From 1991 through February 2017, the Auxiliary has helped to collect 14,716 units of blood. That’s up to 44,148 lives impacted! We can’t thank this group enough for helping us save lives in our community.

In March we also honored Green Mountain Garwin High School for their outstanding support of blood donation. GMG High School hosted their first blood drive with LifeServe in 1999. Since then, they have collected a total of 2,184 units of blood and have helped save the lives of nearly 6,500 hospital patients!

Senator Jeff Edler presented GMG High School with the Outstanding Service Award and the three students who put the entire blood drive together this year, Hannah Hinson, Katy Thompson and Wes Steiner, with Outstanding Student Leader Awards! Thank you GMG for your continued support!
